Andrew “AJ” Crane – Owner

Born, raised, and settled in Chicopee, it’s no surprise that AJ’s life has centered around the construction industry also. AJ started his career by learning the more technical side of construction, he attended Rochester Institute of Technology where he graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering Technology with a concentration in Construction Management. After returning home, armed with an understanding of some of the more technical aspects of the trade, he joined the family business and hasn’t looked back. Working in the field during the day and learning the art of the business side of construction from his father, Andy. Throughout the next decade, Andy and AJ worked together to set the course to where A. Crane Construction is today. After taking the reins and transitioning to full ownership, AJ has continued to morph his family’s company into a full service, multi-state commercial construction firm and developer. His dedication to keeping the same level of customer service, no matter what size job, comes straight from time spent honing his craft. Taking a page out of his dad’s playbook, AJ is a respected member of the Western MA business community, serving on the Board of Directors at Westmass Area Development Corporation, Chicopee Chamber of Commerce, Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Western MA and Western MA Red Cross. Andrew “Andy” Crane – Founder

Born, raised, and settled down in Chicopee, Andy’s professional life has centered around construction of all kinds.  He started his career working for Daniel O’Connell’s Sons performing concrete installation all over Western Massachusetts, after moving on from DOC Andy project managed for Maine Post & Beam erecting timber frame homes all over New England.  From here Andy teamed up with some extended family members at ArClaire Builders which was a major home developer in the early 1980’s building hundreds of homes and condos in the greater Springfield Area, Andy was responsible for all aspects of Project Management.  In October of 1988, Andy hung his own shingle and A. Crane Construction was born.  Over the next 2 decades the company consistently grew as Andy’s reputation for quality residential and light commercial contracting spread.  In the early 2000’s Andy welcomed his son AJ into the company and they worked together for years delivering projects of all kinds.  His care for the customer and insistence on doing a job right rather than quick are the bedrocks on which the company’s foundation still rests.  These values are why Andy is regarded so highly in the industry, so much so that he has amassed a number of prestigious awards, including Massachusetts Builder of the Year, Massachusetts Home Builders Association Legend of the Industry, and Chicopee Chamber of Commerce Shining Star for Citizen of the Year to name a few.  Andy has always believed in giving back, this is evident in his extensive non-profit involvement such as Make-a-Wish Foundation, Forest Park Zoo, Boys Scouts of America, Local Churches, and the list goes on.  His affinity for giving back is what placed him in his current role as the Executive Director of the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Western, MA where he can help empower the next generation of Home Builders to see our industry as a great choice to build a career.
